ATI cards are being restructured and run cooler, and faster transfer of data fyi...oh and lower power consumption. Other than that, its in the air really. I got nothin to suggest since I havent bought a new card since my nvidia 9800gtx which runs way too hot, and consumes power like its cool.

Youll add about 100MHz and double the memory clock I have on mine. What manufacture is yours?

I have two machines, one is running dual GTX 460's and the other is running dual Radeon 5850s, the 460's consume about 65% of the power and the benchmarks are close to identical.
GTX 460's consume less power than any of the other 400 series cards though.. as they were made after the 470, 480, etc.

The new change on the data stream count on the ati cards was the biggest thing that got me to want to change over to their newer cards. Compare a 400 series cards like 300-400 streams to the 4850's 800. They moved parts of the board around and ended up with nanometers difference that made up in data transfer what they lacked in processing power...and thats only the first generation

They run totally different, completely technology. Dont worry about stream processors or any of that, look at benchmarks. Dual 460's is the way to go in my opinion..
By the way, whoever is talking about selling a 4850 I'd be willing to buy it off of you to put in crossfire with one of my 4890 machines because ATI will let me do that ;)

oh and didn't I mention I don't want to do multiple cards? at least not until next full upgrade time, thing is many games don't even utilize it or use it well enough to be worth it just wasting power and adding heat, lots of heat.
