I'm in the market for some new ram I have an Asus P5E3 premium board in DDR3 1600 range, what would be the best ram for the buck? I'm not very good at picking out ram it confuses my simple brain with all the variety, Vid cards I can figure out, CPU's and PSU's I'm fine mobo's a little shaky but ram I get lost in the sea of choices, what should I get?

my CPU is a E8400 and I'm going to look at getting a XFX HD-585X-ZNFC Radeon HD 5850, but I'm lost for ram.

I, personally, am a big fan of Corsair products for ram. So I give you that. When it comes to buying the memory you are looking at what kind of voltage options it has, who kind of timing options it has, and obvious matching specs like DDR3 1600(pc12800) or whaterver youre needing. Take the timing and voltage options the memory has against what options your bios allows for. This give you the best field of options. After that, look at the comments about the ram. Finally look at the heat spreading ability, does it look like its built solid to you?

I just bought 8GB of DDR3 1600 if your MB supports it I would get it over 1300mhz.
Make sure you know whether your MB is single channel or double channel. If its double channel you have to buy your RAM in pairs. Prices are really good. I bought Corsair CMS3 that Valoth linked to. If you have a Microcenter or Frys nearby they usually have good prices. OCZ gold is pretty good and they have 2x 2 gb $80 and 3x 2GB for $130. I Paid about $180 for my Corsair 4 x 2GB Kit

I am currently running OCZ titaniums 4x1 gigs at 8-8-8-24 but I think one of them is bad, maybe. I also have noticed discoloration on the heat spreaders I'll feel more comfortable and the system will be faster with 2x2 in the optimized slots, less is more kind of thing, I don't know what to do with my old chips either now maybe someone in the clan wants them for packing and shipping charges? who knows maybe they are all fine but I still want to goto 2 ram chips and 1 gpu, too much heat and power consumption is coming out of xfire and 4 chips.

should I flip to nvidia? is ati still a lot better? similar cards on the nvidia side are cheaper than ati now, don't know what to do. Nvidia has better drivers historically and I'm just torn with no real loyalty.
