New Ventrilo Server

Since we are sponsored and have 2 free TS3 servers and can get any servers we want not sure why someone is paying for a vent server. We took a vote and voted as a clan to move to TS3 not sure why some of our clan is on vent. Sounds like we need to talk about this at the monthly meeting. I think its a good idea to have a back up but not 2 voice servers.

We were just using Ventrilo because it is more commonly used and it makes it much easier to have ringers, more universal, and a personal preference to some of the members.

When I joined the team I thought FishaY was the leader and he told me that he had no problem with Ventrilo. Also, at the time I was not aware that FragWorld and a2k were both owned by you, TriggerPappy. I thought the TeamSpeak 3 server was no more than a public server considering that there was only one "a2k" channel. I was not trying to barge in on the entire community that at the time I was not aware of, I simply thought it would be a good decision.

If you have a problem with us using Ventrilo, since I am the one who purchased it, I would have no problem closing it and seeing if there is a way that I could either find another team that is in need of a Ventrilo server to give it to or see if I could get a partial refund.

It did cost me about $60 for the Ventrilo server so it does give me a stomache ache seeing it going to waste, but at the same time I understand that I did not confront nor talk to triggerpappy about the Ventrilo server so I cannot do much more than take responsibility for not asking before I switched the MW2 team to Ventrilo.

TeamSpeak does have it's advantages, such as auto mic boost and reduction, higher codec, and a feature which eliminates the majority of background noise. I would say that TeamSpeak is an all around better VoIP than Ventrilo, but not as universally used, therefore in the past (with other teams I have been in) it has become more of a hassle than anything.

Feel free to email me at gamerjync@gmail.com or text me at 9703616421 (After the 30th of August) to get ahold of me. Either way I can reply instantly.

Thanks.

First Welcome to A2k Jync. I don't "own" a2k but I am one of the head admins as is Fishay and others.

We have no problem going with vent. We have had the discussion at our last meeting in the beginning of the summer and we voted as a clan to go with TS3 due to new features and higher quality and because we get 500 slots for free. We do still have to decide whether or not to get our own private server.

My point is only that we make decisions as a clan, not just what one person, an admin, a couple people or a team wants.

We have a treasury and we have 4 GSPs that we can get free servers from so no one should have to do anything but donate. We did have a couple days where the TS3 server went down for a couple hours so I understand why you guys got a vent server. Go ahead and keep using it for now and we will decide in the september meeting how to proceed. I just don't want to see any of our members waste their money when we get so many things for free. I can get us a free vent server setup in 5 minutes if we need one. IMHO I would just rather we all be together in one server instead of split up even if we play different games.

Anyway its no biggie we can figure it out at the next meeting.

I am very experienced of TeamSpeak 3 as well.

My recommendation is to either use this Ventrilo server until we need more than 25 slots and either get a private TS3 server for the team or a private Ventrilo server for the team.

I am very experienced with TeamSpeak 3 and Ventrilo both. Ventrilo seems to be more user friendly when it comes to user permission controls, but for all around gaming I do recommend TeamSpeak 3 - especially before Black Ops and Medal of Honor come out.

The Stig
I really think we beat this whole thing with a dead horse by now. I dont mean to call anyone out really, but it was decided. We can re-evaluate the decision but it was to the benefit that we saved money with the choices we made at the time. Consideration should be kept on both programs but in the end we dont really need to, and who wants to fork out money for something we can just adjust the free side to meet our current needs.

In regards to Fragcast/FragAlliance, at the end of the day its a community project and we are part of it. If you want more players to compete with, mess around with, or just chat with, why wall ourselves out off in a Ventrilo no one but us uses? This doesnt mean Im saying we dont appreciate the thought behind the gesture. We do, if we used this vent or not. It just simply comes down to a bit of a rash decision and in the future could be handled with administration given by Trigger or any other member of the leaders in a2k.

So again, dont mean to beat ya over the head with it, just my $0.02

I know what you all mean, I don't really even care anymore. If we don't need the Vent, i can find a home for it, if we do, so be it.

I'm just here to be a part of the community and scrim some noobs.

:p
